Hero's Men Came First
America will proudly remember
a man of uncommon valor
who went beyond
the call of duty
regardless of self
to rescue one of his
wounded men.
Nor did he retreat
after two attempts,
going a third time
into the enemy's onslaught
of bullets and more...
coming within a few steps
before mortally wounded, himself.
Saying goodbye to his men
with a message for his parents,
Sergeant Jared Monti
made his peace with God above...
joining the eternal home
of America's greatest heroes,
where he basks in righteous glory.
