Life’s Hourglass

Time is endless,
yet goes by,
no matter the why
seemingly in slow motion
even standing still
when looking forward
to reaching an age,
hoping what will come
with many grains of sand
still remaining
in life's hourglass.

Time is endless,
yet goes by,
no matter the why,
seemingly in the blink of an eye,
even fleeting
when looking back
at youth lost,
knowing what will come
when the final grain of sand
passes beyond
life's hourglass.
